Take part in this interactive program that has something for everyone. Sing songs, listen to stories and rhymes, and play games that encourage literacy and learning.
Talking, singing, reading and playing are the key skills and fun ways to help your child get ready to read. Developing early literacy skills makes it easier for children to learn to read once they begin school, and helps to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning. No registration is required.
Recommended for age 5 and under. This is a drop-in program.
Every Child Ready to Read Storytime is also offered on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. at the Alder Library.

Starting on Tuesday, March 3, the library is hosting the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) at the Mill Library. Eligible individuals with a modest income and simple tax situation can have their 2025 taxes prepared by a volunteer, free of charge. The walk-in clinic to meet with a volunteer are on Tuesdays and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Give your child a jumpstart to a love of reading by engaging in fun, interactive activities with your baby. This is a drop-in program for newborns to 18 months.
There will be time to socialize with other new parents after the program.
Every Child Ready to Read is an early childhood literacy program for children from birth to age five. Library staff will demonstrate ways to help children get ready to read, incorporating five activities: talking, singing, reading, writing and playing.
This program is also offered at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Mill Street library.

The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) provides an opportunity for local youth to share their ideas about the library's teen programs, services and collection. Members can earn high school community service volunteer hours.

Join us in the Makerspace to learn the basics of 3D Printing, including how to find 3D model files or make your, then prepare them for printing and learn how to operate our 3D Printer (a Prusa Core One). Participants will leave with a 3D model that they have created.
This workshop is for ages 9 to 17. Spots are limited, please register in advance to attend.

Presented by Scientists in School, participants will enjoy a few snippets of science! Be a chemist and discover the difference between baking soda and power. Create a fantastical creature while investigating dominant and recessive genes. Make a pompom launcher and explore physics. Discover aeronautics by building and testing a plane. A snippet is just the beginning!
Please note, children ages 4 and 5 require an adult to help navigate the workshop activities. This workshop is now full. If you would like to add your name to the waitlist please do so, and a library staff member will be in touch should a spot open up.

Youth ages 5 and up are invited to come to the new Makerspace for a tour! Makerspace Specialist Raghav will introduce everyone to some of the tech/equipment in the new makerspace, get acquainted with the laser engraving, 3D printing, embroidery, robotics, and more! Demonstrations of the button maker and cricut will be made.
Tour will start promptly at 11 a.m. each day from March 16 to 20. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the start time to get a spot.
Looking for more maker fun? Drop by the Makerspace during Open Lab hours throughout the March Break (daily, March 16 to 20) from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. to create something! Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.
Please note, all programs in our Makerspace require participants to review the Makerspace Guidelines in advance and sign a Waiver. Makers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times while in the Makerspace.

Love drawing, comics, cutting, pasting, or telling stories? Come make a zine with local author, poet and Zinester Allison Bothley!
Zines are DIY mini-magazines that are messy, creative, and full of personality. You don't need fancy tools or perfct spelling, just imagination. You might make an All-About-Me Zine, a How-To, or a book about a favourite pet or animal. Everyone will leave the workshop with a handmade zine that's completely their own.
The program is geared towards children ages 6 to 12. The workshop is now full.

J WiZ brings a fast paced, interactive kids show combining crowd-pleasing magic and illusion with music, movement, and playful audience participation to keep kids fully engaged from start to finish. This high energy show has it all, from magic to comedy, with a positivity woven throughout. Don’t miss J WiZ’s featured comedy escape sequence!
This is a ticketed event and all attendees require a ticket to participate (children under 2 on a lap do not require a ticket). Tickets are $4 each or $10 for three different shows. Available to purchase in advance at either library location starting February 13, or at the door on show day.
Please Note: This entertainment show takes place offsite at the Orangeville District Secondary School (ODSS) in the Cafetorium - located at 22 Faulkner Street, Orangeville.
