BYOB - Bring Your Own Book Meet-up

Join other book lovers to discuss what you’ve been reading lately. Talk about recent reads and get your next book recommendation. This event is for adults ages 18 and over. New members are welcome.

Please RSVP in advance to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.

Bollywood Beat Storytime

Enjoy stories, songs, and fun activities at the Mill St. Library. 

Join us as we welcome local author Anita Yasuda for an interactive read aloud of her latest picture book, Bollywood Beat! Celebrate diversity and the joy of Bollywood dance through stories, music, an art activity, props and even a special demonstration of Kathak dance from the Dharmic Dancers to “Sakal Ban". Kathak is a traditional dance from India that tells stories through graceful movements, fast footwork, spins, and facial expressions. 

All ages welcome. No registration is required.

Welcome aboard Tween Club: Aquatic Investigators, for ages 9-12! Dive into the science of water with read-alouds, activities, and a STEAM slime experiment with special guest Lab-in-A-Box! Join us on August 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the Mill St. Meeting Room— we hope to sea you there! No registration required.

Tween Club is every Thursday until August 20, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Mill Street Library.

Join Tanis for fun activities and to learn about volunteer opportunities at the library. 

The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) provides an opportunity for local youth to share their ideas about the library's teen programs, services and collection. Entering Grade 9 in September? Join TAG this summer and start earning your high school community service volunteer hours.

Headwaters Writers Group is a local writing group that meets bi-weekly at the Mill Street Library to encourage, motivate and inspire fellow writers.  New and experienced writers of any genre are always welcome (18 years or older).

Drop in Mondays at Alder and Saturdays at Mill during open hours for a self-directed craft activity using a variety of supplies.

Adult supervision required for children under 9.

Scientists in School Workshop: Noticing Nature (virtual)

2:30 PM | Virtual / Online program

This workshop is geared for children ages 5 to 12 to complete at home with the guidance of an adult as needed. 

Chicka-dee-dee-dee. Who was that? Play a game to discover nature sounds around us. Buzz your newly created bee around flowers to pollinate them. Investigate seeds and make a seed caterpillar that will grow over time. Be sure to have your Science Kit on hand for this virtual workshop hosted by Scientists in School.

Science kits will need to be picked up at either library location in advance. Participants will be notified when the kits are ready for pickup. 

Please note: a Laptop or internet accessible device and an internet connection are required to take part in this virtual workshop from home.
 
Please register in advance. The participation link will be sent by library staff the week before the program.
