What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Why are tech companies building it? What are the hopes people have for what this technology can accomplish? And how does AI perpetuate gender inequality? Many businesses, governments, and everyday citizens incorporate AI into various aspects of their work today. This presentation explores the risks and benefits of AI technology from the perspective of a researcher in Ethics and Feminist Philosophy.

Amanda Narvali is currently working towards her Doctorate of Philosophy at the University of Guelph. Her doctoral research is focused on the "Gendered Harms of Artificial Intelligence." Her work illuminates the harms of AI-generated pornography, the risks and benefits of data-based approaches to health and examines the promise of AI as a technology that can realize personalized medicine. Her philosophical interests include AI Ethics, Feminist Philosophy, Clinical Ethics, and Bioethics. Amanda holds an MA in Philosophy from Western University and a BA in Philosophy and Creative Writing from the University of Guelph.

Join Billie Jo Reid, Outdoor and Nature Journal Educator for this hands-on workshop. No artistic ability is required, just a love of nature and a sense of wonder and curiosity! Meet in the community living room at the Mill Library and we will go to the park together as a group.
Ages 13 to 17 years. Please register in advance.
Please note, this workshop involves a visit to Mill Square park (located just one block away at the corner of Mill St. and Little York St.).
If there is inclement weather, this program will move to the Mill Library.

Join us with our friends from EarlyON Dufferin for songs, stories and a craft in the park. This week's special guest is Cassandra Brennan who will help us make art in the park. Cassandra (they/them) is a Drama Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist working in Orangeville. They offer support to all ages with Art as Therapy and through the Art Hive Foundation. They are eager to share in some summer fun with you all this summer!
Adventures in the Park is outdoors in parks around the community. The summer program will be at Kay Cee Gardens, 29 Bythia St., and will feature special storytime guests.
Recommended for age 6 and under.

Adults ages 18 and older are invited to join us for a preview of our makerspace with a focus on our Cricut machine - we will be using it to make a customized vinyl sticker.
You'll also learn about all of the amazing equipment and activities for you to explore soon at the Library's new makerspace.
