Stories about stories will spark imagination and may just inspire your child to practice their writing and storytelling.
Join Shannon for stories and songs on OPL's YouTube channel and then pick-up a craft kit at the Mill Street location. This week’s literacy extension will encourage children to practice creating the letters in their name out of plasticine.
Literacy Tip: drawing and scribbling are an essential pre-writing skill. Children do not need to know how to print letters or write words to write and tell a story. Eventually their scribbles will take on features of written text-moving from left to right on a page, going up for ‘tall’ letters (b, d, t) and lower for ‘short’ letters (a, c, e).
