Meet Amaya James, the amazing young author and illustrator of Afro, No! at this fun program that will celebrate how beautifully unique each of us are. Amaya will share a reading and the story behind her story, and then we will complete a fun art activity. Book sales and signing to follow event.
Amaya is an illustrator, author, and fan of all things art. She lives in small-town Ontario with her mom, dad, two sisters, and dog Jax. At just nine years old, she published her first book, “Afro, No!” in October 2022. Her first offering explores the sometimes complicated relationship that young black girls can have with their hair and speaks to the beauty, uniqueness, and joy that comes with the pain and challenge of getting their hair done.
Please RSVP and let us know you will be joining. This program is suitable for children ages 4 and up. An art activity will follow the reading.
