Give your child a jumpstart to a love of reading by engaging in fun, interactive activities with your baby. This is a drop-in program for newborns to 18 months.

There will be time to socialize with other new parents after the program.

Every Child Ready to Read is an early childhood literacy program for children from birth to age five. Library staff will demonstrate ways to help children get ready to read, incorporating five activities: talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. 

This program is also offered at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Mill Street library.

Join us in the Makerspace to learn the basics of 3D Printing, including how to find 3D model files or make your, then prepare them for printing and learn how to operate our 3D Printer (a Prusa Core One). Participants will leave with a 3D model that they have created. 

This workshop is for adults ages 18 and older. Spots are limited, please register in advance to attend.

Join us for an author afternoon talk with debut author and community leader, Alethia O’Hara‑Stephenson. Drawing on her personal experiences, insights from industry leaders, and real-world corporate case studies (from standout strategies to cautionary tales) Alethia shares practical, inspiring guidance for anyone looking to lead with clarity, courage, and purpose.

Her book explores the realities of building a career and a life at the same time: navigating workplace relationships, overcoming self-doubt, balancing motherhood, marriage and education, and fostering strong, engaged teams. Alethia’s approach is grounded, and her wide-ranging advice speaks not only to young Black or racialized women, but to anyone who aspires to lead effectively by empowering those around them.

Held on March 7, this program is a timely way to recognize female leadership as we head into International Women’s Day (March 8) by celebrating an empowered local voice and leader. In addition to her business experience and author debut, Alethia serves as the President and Founder of the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association and was awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025 for outstanding services to community and country.

Join us with our friends from EarlyON Dufferin for songs, stories and a craft. The program will be held indoors for January. 

Meet at EarlyON Dufferin, 30 Centre St. at 10 a.m.

Take part in this interactive program that has something for everyone. Sing songs, listen to stories and rhymes, and play games that encourage literacy and learning.

Talking, singing, reading and playing are the key skills and fun ways to help your child get ready to read. Developing early literacy skills makes it easier for children to learn to read once they begin school, and helps to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning. No registration is required.

Recommended for age 5 and under. This is a drop-in program.

Every Child Ready to Read Storytime is also offered on Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. at the Mill Library.

The library will not have a storytime during March Break - March 16 to 20. Find the school age programs in the event calendar.

Starting on Tuesday, March 3, the library is hosting the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) at the Mill Library. Eligible individuals with a modest income and simple tax situation can have their 2025 taxes prepared by a volunteer, free of charge. The walk-in clinic to meet with a volunteer are on Tuesdays and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. 

Join us in the Makerspace to learn how to use our Cricut Maker 3, including how to operate the machine and how to use Cricut Design Space. Participants will create a sticker as part of the program.

The After Hours Write Club is a writing workshop facilitated by local author Anthony Carnovale.  Meet at the Mill Street Library at 7 p.m.
