Coffee, Conversation & Books: Cynthia Young - This event has already occurred

Event Details:

Ever wonder what stories your ancestors might tell? Can you imagine living in the years 1860—1920?

Come share in the conversation with the local author historian and storyteller, Cynthia Young, as part of our Coffee, Conversation & Books series hosted in partnership with Shelburne and Grand Valley Public Library.

Cynthia takes us on a journey through early Canada, England, Ireland and Colonial India. Her stories feature distinct challenges; some individuals leave everything familiar to embark on lengthy voyages, while others strive to carve out alternative paths after life-shattering experiences. Was life simpler and easier for our ancestors, or did the hardships of those times hinder their way?

The stories in her four historically based novels, inspired by real individuals, highlight the courage and resilience of ordinary families. She explores their journeys, and fuelled by what she learns, found her writing voice. Blending social history and extensive research, Cynthia imagines conversations, thoughts, and reactions of her characters as they respond to life’s events, creating one version of those peoples’ lives.

Perhaps inspiration will allow you to explore your own creative talents to applaud the history that brought you here. Join us for an enriching discussion and discover an appreciation for the stories we carry within us.

This event will take place at Mochaberry Cafe located at 177 Broadway. Please register in advance to attend.
