
Join OPL and the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA) for a film screening of "WHAT WE DESERVE" in recognition of Emancipation month. This Shelland House of Films documentary will be screened at the Mill Library on Sunday, August 9.
This documentary first premiered in February 2023 and was developed as a direct response to the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, looking closer at the crimes of the slave trade, slavery and genocide against indigenous peoples, with a call for restorative justice and reparation. "WHAT WE DESERVE" has won seven awards and received 19 nominations since its release.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., screening starts at 7 p.m. Light refreshments provided.
