Expert in the Library: Raising Digital Citizens: Keeping Kids Safe Online

Event Details:

In today’s world, growing up is inseparable from growing up online. From social media to gaming to endless access to content, the digital landscape presents both exciting opportunities and serious challenges for children and teens—and their parents.

“Raising Digital Citizens” is a practical and insightful presentation led by two experienced psychologists who specialize in child development, mental health, and family dynamics. This virtual session is designed to support parents and caregivers in understanding how to guide their children through the digital world with confidence, clarity, and care.

You’ll learn:

  • How to talk with your child about online safety and digital boundaries

  • The impact of screen time and social media on brain development and mental health

  • Signs of unsafe online behavior—and how to respond

  • Strategies to foster digital resilience, responsibility, and critical thinking

  • How to model healthy tech habits as a family

This session will provide a balanced approach—not fear-based, but grounded in research, compassion, and real-world experience. Whether your child is just beginning to explore the online world or already immersed in social platforms, you’ll leave with practical tools and a deeper understanding of how to raise a responsible, informed digital citizen.

Let’s work together to keep our kids safe, smart, and supported in the digital age.

This event will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. Please register to receive the meeting link.
